Reflection:
What really caught my attention was the vast amount of beach wood and trees in the area. There were many turned over stumps that made for good photographs. The natural decomposition of some of the logs on the beach made good negative space created by the holes in the log. What I also liked was the layers of beach, there were sections of the beach that was only sand, another layer housed old shells, and another layer was simply small sized rocks.
We responded to our observations by taking pictures of the various elements and creating small pieces that resembled the natural elements. Some of our pieces were quickly thrown together, but the spiral of shells that resembles the rings on a log took much longer than the rest.
The members of our group took on several roles. We all collaborated on the individual pieces and talked about how they resembled some of the earlier photographs of natural elements. We also traded roles of developer and photographer so that we could get different angles on the pieces we made.
